When it comes to creations by ace designer Anita Dongre, there is hardly any celebrity who has not donned her outfits. From fashionistas like Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan to star kids like Jhanvi Kapoor, all have worn her ensembles that are a rich melange of tradition and modern silhouettes. Now, moving beyond Bollywood stars, the Queen of Belgium, her royal highness Queen Mathilde picked a beautiful couture from her latest ‘Tree of Love’ collection.
Wearing a navy blue Anarkali dress with printed motifs inspired by the designer’s love for Rajasthan’s ‘khejri’ trees, the monarch looked classy and effortlessly beautiful. The maxi dress with band collar and pleat detailing was chosen by the royal who is on a state visit to India with her husband, King Phillipe.
On Tuesday, she was spotted wearing Dongre’s dress when she met Sushma Swaraj, Kirron Kher, and others at Rashtrapati Bhawan and for her visit to Childline 1098 centre in Gurugram with Maneka Gandhi.
Take a look at the beautiful ensemble:
Taking to Vogue, India about the Queen wearing her ensemble, the designer said, “Truly honoured to see Queen Mathilde in our floor-length dress during her state visit to India.” Dongre who is scheduled to meet the royal later this week added how much she appreciates the Queen’s philanthropic works. “It’s humbling to see Indian fashion being embraced by a global icon like her. I admire her inspiring work with UNICEF Belgium, her caring efforts towards vulnerable sectors and positive changes she brought in early education and women’s health,” the report added.
This is not the first time a member of the royal family chose to wear her work. Earlier, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, wore a floral printed tunic from her collection during their state visit to India.
