When it comes to runway trends, most of us would agree that it’s not always easy to replicate it in our everyday life – mostly because there are certain things that look better only on the catwalk. But what if we say that you can always glean some inspiration and make them your own this winter. Dressing up to brave the winter chill need not be boring. From puffer coats to thigh-high boots, we spotted these five trends you can easily try. Believe us, they are surprisingly very practical and stylish.
Ski jackets: Ski jackets have always been around but they were not the purveyor of cool until they made it from the slopes of the Alps to Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia runway show. Suddenly, they are all fashionistas can talk about. The best way to wear them is to pair them up with slacks and booties with heels. It can pass off as a cool office wear as well.
Puffer coats: Before we start off about anything else, let’s just agree that puffer coats are the best thing to have happened in the fashion scene. Really comfy and the best shield against the cold, puffer jackets made quite an impact when Vivenne Westwood came out with the metallic ones. We think they can easily pass off well with jeans and tees or if you want to add some chicness, pair it with a LBD and thigh-high boots.
Turtlenecks and navy overcoats: It might not be a hot favourite but turtlenecks are quite handy during winters, and they can look very chic with the right accessories. If you don’t want to pair it with a pair of jeans, you can always wear it underneath your summer dress, like Tory Burch did. Comfort and style at the same time. Another trend that looks interesting is the emergence of the Navy-inspired coat. We think the camel coat has met its match.
Leggings: Slacks are always a classic but leggings lost its charm along the way until British fashion designer Phoebe Philo shocked everyone by bringing it right back into the scene, and we are so glad. It’s comfortable and if you wear it well with a tee and trench coat, you can turn it into an uber cool outfit.
Thigh-high boots: This year, we saw the re-emergence of the thigh-high boots with Deepika Padukone rocking a gorgeous BalmainxH&M gold embellished dress with long sleeves with a pair of black Sergio Rossi thigh-high boots. Also, we saw Kylie Jenner step out in these gorgeous, striped Vetements boots.
