The list of the world’s 50 best hotels has been announced in an awards ceremony held in London. It includes luxurious hotels from 35 different locations across six continents worldwide. The event was hosted at the historic Guildhall and highlighted outstanding hotel experiences across the world that will shape the aspirations of consumers, travellers, and hoteliers.

Passalacqua, the luxury boutique hotel situated on the shores of Lake Como, grabbed the top spot on the list. “Located in an 18th-century villa with spectacular terraced gardens running down to the water, the De Santis family has created an exquisite 24-room property with the feel of a private home,” the press release said.

It was followed by Rosewood Hong Kong, set in the city’s Victoria Dockside arts and design district with stunning views over the harbour, in the number two spot. Bangkok’s Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River took the third position.

The only Indian hotel to make the cut is Agra’s Oberoi Amarvilas which grabbed the 45th position. Barely a km away from the Taj Mahal, this hotel is set on sprawling, landscaped grounds.

“We are delighted to share that The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra, has been featured in the Inaugural Ranking of the World’s 50 Best Hotels 2023. We are honoured to be the only hotel in India to be included in this prestigious list. Our commitment to providing guests with unrivalled experiences remains unwavering, and we invite travellers from around the world to join us in discovering the magic of the Taj Mahal from our exceptional vantage point,” the hotel wrote in an Instagram post.
