The World’s Best Vineyards list for 2023 has been unveiled, showcasing the finest wine tourism experiences globally. This prestigious list recognises and celebrates the most exceptional vineyards that offer immersive and memorable experiences for wine enthusiasts and travellers alike. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or simply appreciate the beauty of vineyards, this definitive guide — organised by the UK-based media group William Reed — is your passport to exploring the world’s most remarkable wine destinations.

The top spot was grabbed by the family-run Catena Zapata in Argentina. Founded in 1902, this vineyard is the oldest Argentine family winery and is known for its role in reinventing Malbec. The structure of this winery is distinguished by its pyramid-like design based on Mayan architecture.

It was followed by Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal in Rioja, Spain, which is where the first ever Rioja wines were bottled with the then Marquis’ first vintage in 1862. “It is also where the trend for covering bottles of Rioja in golden mesh began, the estate’s wines having become so popular by the early twentieth century that they required a form of seal to ensure authenticity,” according to the official website.

The third position is awarded to VIK in Cachapoal Valley, Chile, which is one of the world’s most unique wineries. “A visionary blend of wine, architecture, landscape and luxury, the winery has always placed innovation and science at the centre of everything it does.”
