CISF Constable news: The Calcutta High Court recently upheld the dismissal of a CISF constable found under the influence of alcohol while on duty, observing that “misplaced sympathy” towards an errant member would lower the morale of the force. The high court pointed out that “sparing” such addiction could encourage others to follow suit, leading to a “decline” in the force’s standards.

Justice Amrita Sinha held that even a “minute” quantity of alcohol is impermissible while a member of the force is on duty, and observed that the petitioner’s continued presence in the force would be more of a “liability than an asset.”
