The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has announced that the last date to apply for teacher eligibility test (TET) 2017 is on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Candidates who wish to apply and appear for the exam can apply for the same from the official website of the Board (wbbpeonline.in).
The WBTET 2017 exam is being conducted for teachers of the primary level from classes 1 to 5. Candidates are required to pay an exam fee of Rs 100 (Rs 25 for candidates of the reserved categories).
Recently, about 200 petitioners have been allowed to appear for the exam by the Calcutta High Court. They were previously unable to apply for WBTET due to changes in the eligibility criteria which included a specified period of training. However, advocate general Kishore Dutta noted that some petitioners who enrolled for the DlEd would not be able to fulfill conditions of general education courses of higher secondary exams and that they were preying on opportunity without satisfying NCTE condition.
