UPSC Engineering Service Exam 2019: Union Public Service Commission has started online withdrawal of application process. The candidates who want to withdraw their application can do so through the official website, on or before November 5.

Earlier, regarding the maiden initiative by UPSC, chairman Arvind Saxena said, “The commission has to book venues, print papers, hire invigilators and ship the documents for all the 10 lakh applicants – which turns out to be a 50 per cent waste of energy and resources.”

A start is being made with the Engineering Services Examination, 2019 and more examinations will be brought under this arrangement. In order to avail this facility, the candidate has to provide details of the application. Separate OTPs will be sent on candidate’s registered mobile number and email id.

On successful completion of withdrawal of the application, a confirmation message will be sent on the email and also an SMS. Once the application has been withdrawn, it cannot be revived. Meanwhile, with a view to reduce the stress for the candidates, the UPSC has brought an increasing number of exam-related interactions and transactions online, read the official release.

Approximately 581 posts in various departments — civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering categories would be filled through the UPSC examination. The Engineering Services Examination (ESE) will be conducted in three stages — preliminary, main and the personality test.
