The Special Investigation Team (SIT) Saturday started the process of handing over all documents and case diaries related to the Saradha scam to the CBI.
On Friday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said in the Assembly that she had written a letter to the police directorate asking them to transfer case diaries and all related documents to the SIT.
“The process has started and a few case diaries have been handed over to us,” said CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad.
Meanwhile, arrested MP Kunal Ghosh said he would like to be interrogated by the CBI. “I believe I can give some important leads that will help in the investigation. I will now tell only to the CBI,” Ghosh said while being produced at a local court Saturday.
Alleging harassment by the police, Ghosh claimed that he was being framed in various ‘new and false’ cases.
“Everyday, police frame me in some new and false cases. Every alternative day, I am being produced before several district courts,” he said.
The Enforcement Directorate, investigating the money trail of the Saradha group, has already sent summons to Trinamool MP and actor Mithun Chakraborty.
