A 10-year-old girl, allegedly raped by three boys twice on Wednesday, was not admitted to the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital here for over seven hours, despite lying in pain on a stretcher outside the OPD. The girl was admitted only after protests by her parents and two dozen junior doctors.

“We brought her to the hospital around noon on Friday, but she was left waiting on a stretcher before being officially admitted. But no doctor came to see her for another two hours,” said her father. But Chief Medical Superintendent Subhash Singh claimed the girl was admitted immediately. “The girl was left unattended for a long time. We have lodged an FIR and arrested the main accused, Arvind. Medical examination has confirmed rape,” Inchauli police station SHO said.

In her statement, the girl said she had gone shopping when Arvind convinced her to accompany him to a room. There, he and two others raped her while a woman watched, she said. The victim alleged she was then taken to a nearby hostel, where she was raped again.
