The police Saturday lodged a case against Amanmani Tripathi, the son of former UP minister Amarmani Tripathi, for allegedly murdering his wife Sara, nine days after she was reportedly killed in a car crash in which Amanmani escaped unhurt.
In the FIR lodged at Sirsaganj police station of Firozabad district, Amanmani and “his family members” have been booked under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 498A (Husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Shikohabad Circle Officer Shyamkant said the FIR was filed based on a complaint lodged by Sara’s mother Seema Singh to Firozabad Superintendent of Police Piyush Srivastava on Friday.

Sara died on July 9 when a car she was travelling in with Amanmani reportedly met with an accident on National Highway-2 in Firozabad district. Amanmani, who escaped unhurt, was subsequently arrested as he was absconding in a kidnapping case lodged against him in Lucknow in August last year. He was sent to Lucknow jail.
Sara’s mother, who submitted applications to Governor Ram Naik, UP DGP Jagmohan Yadav and the Lucknow SSP demanding a CBI inquiry into Sara’s death, however, alleged that Amanmani killed her daughter and made her death look like a road accident.
In her earlier applications, Seema has demanded that a narco test be conducted on both Amanmani and his father Amarmani, who is serving a life term for the murder of Madhumita Shukla in 2003. Amarmani and his wife Madhumani were convicted for Madhumita’s murder in 2007.
Sara’s mother has alleged that Amarmani did not approve of Amanmani’s marriage to Sara in 2013, and that there was a conspiracy behind her death. She said Sara wanted to end her marriage with Amanmani, but he was against it.
Seema also alleged that Sara had once told her that Amanmani had beaten her. Seema backed her argument by claiming that she found the cars from Amanmani’s native place, Gorakhpur, in Firozabad on July 9 when she reached there after finding out about Sara’s death.
Amanmani is a leader of the ruling Samajwadi Party and had unsuccessfully contested the 2012 assembly elections from Nautanwa seat of Maharajganj district.
