AAP leaders Rajmohan Gandhi and Adarsh Shastri , the former a grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and the latter of Lal Bahadur Shastri, will lead a 10-day ‘Sampradayik Souhard Yatra’ (march for communal harmony) in western UP beginning October 2, the date of birth shared by their grandfathers.
Announcing the yatra, party spokesperson Sanjay Singh said as a result of concerted efforts by the BJP and the SP for political mileage, Uttar Pradesh especially the western region, has been lashed by communal riots which have ripped the social fabric. “This polarisation is accentuated by a poor law and order situation in the state,” Singh told reporters at party’s state office here Sunday. Apart from Gandhi and Shastri, other party leaders are also expected to be a part of the march.
