The incident came to light when the woman was found in a semi-nude condition on the campus late Saturday and was admitted to the college hospital. On Tuesday, the police shifted her to the district hospital, where she underwent medical examination. The report is awaited.

“We have got evidence of the accused indulging in the act… including CCTV footage. The woman sustained injuries and fell unconscious, as the accused pushed her on the floor when she objected to the assault… We would initiate action against the college administration too for concealing the incident from the police for two days and trying to shelter the accused,” Pilakhua Circle Officer Atul Yadav said.

Pilakhua police SHO Ajay Kumar Yadav said while the woman was found on Saturday, the incident of sexual assault came to light only on Monday after the college staff staged a demonstration outside the institution.

“We have recorded the victim’s statement. She has claimed that a supervisor of the college had raped her. She alleged that the employee had called her upstairs late evening on the pretext that another supervisor was calling her. When she went upstairs, he reportedly dragged her to the terrace and raped her,” he added.

“The woman said she became unconscious while she was struggling to escape. She was found lying near the terrace by college staff, who got her admitted in the hospital,” said the SHO.

The victim has claimed she does not know the name of the accused as she joined the college around 15 days ago, he added.

Despite repeated attempts, the college authorities were not available for comment.
