Culpable homicide: Owner booked over Lucknow building collapse that killed 8
On Sunday, CM Adityanath visited the hospital where the injured are being treated.

A case of culpable homicide was registered on Sunday against the owner of a three-story building in Lucknow which collapsed a day before, leading to the death of eight persons and injuring 28 others, police said.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), district administration, and police were pressed to rescue those trapped in the debris of the building in the city’s Transport Nagar locality.
A truck parked on the premises was also damaged.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Deepak Kumar and Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Amitabh Yash were at the spot to oversee the rescue operations that continued till Sunday to ensure no one remained trapped under the debris.
Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Amit Verma said a police team is investigating the matter and those responsible will be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formed a three-member committee headed by the Home Secretary to probe the collapse. Other members of the committee are Housing and Urban Planning Secretary Balkar Singh and Chief Engineer of Public Works Department (Central Zone) Vijay Kannojia.

The committee has been directed to determine the cause of the incident and submit its report at the earliest, a government official said.
Based on a complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kumar, the FIR was lodged against the building owner, Rakesh Singhal, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections, including 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), said Sarojini Nagar police station in-charge Rajdev Ram Prajapati.

The building had a car workshop and warehouse on the ground floor, a medical godown on the first floor and a cutlery warehouse on the second floor, the officials said.
On Sunday, CM Adityanath visited the hospital where the injured are being treated. He met the victims and enquired about their well-being.
Later, he met senior officials at his official residence to discuss the matter.
