Two Army trucks flagged off for Leh, Kashmir

A joint initiative of Independent Schools Association of Chandigarh, NGO Yuvsatta and Peace Club of KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7, Chandigarh, two Army trucks were flagged off by UT IG TS Luthra, one for Leh and the other for Kashmir valley. The programme started with Prof Devi Sirohi, chairman of Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights, addressing a gathering of students, teachers and heads of 27 prominent schools of the Tricity whose students contributed gifts promoting warmth of friendship.

Prof Sirohi appreciated this unique initiative and said that this child- to-child presents of woollens and friendship cards are seeds of love and at the same time, such initiatives prepare a new generation with creative minds and caring hearts. T S Luthra said that this gesture of young children expressing their gratitude to soldiers by sending them ‘thank you cards” is really a remarkable effort.

He said that the Indian Armed Forces, consisting of the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard are India’s shield and sword, which keep our interests safe, our enemies at bay and the people of our country secure and free.
