6 insurgents from Bangladesh surrender in Tripura

“The group of six having been cornered and getting motivated, renounced the path of bloodshed… This group of NLFT (PD) has been… very active across the fence in Bangladesh. They joined (the) extremist outfit between 2017 and 2022,” a police statement reads.

“They surrendered under the pressure of concerted psychological and physical operations by Tripura Police… With the surrender of six cadres today, Tripura has made a remarkable pathway in making the state insurgency-free. It is a significant achievement for Tripura Police as far as militancy is concerned and to pave the way for remaining factions of NLFT to make a beeline for peace by abjuring violence,” the statement adds.

A large number of NLFT insurgents surrendered since January 2022.

So far, 36 members of the NLFT, including eight NLFT commanders, have surrendered in the last two years.
