SC flags videos of Karnataka HC judge behind ‘Pakistan’ remark, weighs guidelines for observations
Video clips widely shared on social media purportedly showed the judge calling a Bengaluru locality “Pakistan” and making objectionable comments towards a woman lawyer.

Video clips widely shared on social media purportedly showed the judge calling a Bengaluru locality “Pakistan” and making objectionable comments towards a woman lawyer.
The bench, also comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, B R Gavai, Surya Kant and Hrishikesh Roy, took suo motu cognisance of the matter as soon as it assembled in the morning, and sought a report from the Karnataka High Court’s Registrar General.
Naming the judge, Justice V Srishananda, the CJI said: “The reason why we have come in a combination of five judges is that our attention has been drawn to certain video clips about certain gratuitous remarks by a Karnataka High Court judge during the course of hearing. We will ask the Registrar General of the High Court to send us a report…”
