Sumanta Chaudhuri is new Coal Secretary

Murmu was appointed Officer on Special Duty in the Expenditure Department.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi named 1985-batch IAS from West Bengal cadre Sumanta Chaudhuri as the new Coal Secretary, replacing Inder Jit Singh, who will be given a new assignment, a statement from the Department of Personnel and Training said.

Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Upma Chowdhry, was appointed Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, while 1984-batch IAS officer Jalaj Srivastava, currently Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, has been appointed the new chairman of Inland Waterways Authority of India.

G C Murmu, Special Secretary in the Department of Revenue, will be the new Secretary, Department of Expenditure, after the incumbent A N Jha retires end of January 2019. Murmu was appointed Officer on Special Duty in the Expenditure Department.

Chairman and Managing Director of Food Corporation of India Yogendra Tripathy (1985-batch IAS) was appointed the new Tourism Secretary.
