Shahid Afridi’s remarks on Kashmir reflect view of every wise Pakistani, says Shiv Sena

“Pakistan is on the verge of financial bankruptcy and its crisis can be understood from the fact that it had to seek a bailout package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). When the IMF refused them, Pakistan had to beg before China,” said the editorial.

The Shiv Sena said Friday that former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi’s comments on Kashmir are the views of every “wise” Pakistani citizen. In an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana, the Sena said that Pakistan had been driven to bankruptcy by supporting terrorism and corruption, and Prime Minister Imran Khan had been forced to sell buffaloes and vehicles from the Prime Minister’s residence to meet government expenses.

“Pakistan is on the verge of financial bankruptcy and its crisis can be understood from the fact that it had to seek a bailout package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). When the IMF refused them, Pakistan had to beg before China,” said the editorial.

“If Pakistan needs China’s financial oxygen to keep its economy alive, then how will it handle Kashmir? This is what Afridi wanted to say. Not just Afridi, every wise Pakistani citizen must have the same view. But, who asks the common man in Pakistan?” the Sena said.

Earlier this week, Afridi had said Pakistan was not even able to handle its four provinces, so how would it handle Kashmir?

However, he later said his comments were being misconstrued by the Indian media and he valued the “struggle by Kashmiris”.  He said Kashmir “belonged to Pakistan” and was under “brutal Indian occupation”.

“The Pakistani government and the military chief gave more importance to terrorism and always thought of harming India than thinking of welfare of Pakistan and its people. Therefore, they have to beg for aid even 70 years after Independence,” the Sena said.

The party called Afridi an “anti-Indian”, saying he has made derogatory statements about India in the past.
