A day after two Russian women were found dead in their apartment in two separate incidents, a post-mortem was yet to be performed on the bodies, as the Goa police awaited consent from the Russian embassy, police officials said on Saturday.

On Thursday evening, 24-year-old Alexandra Ri-Djavi was found hanging in her rented apartment in Oxel in Siolim, North Goa. Djavi was a model and had promoted a Tamil film. Although reports from 2019 about a complaint she allegedly filed against a photographer in Chennai for allegedly blackmailing her and seeking sexual favours resurfaced on social media on Saturday, police officials said the details of that case are yet to be examined. However, they also said that the case does not seem to be linked to her death, based on the investigation so far.

While police officials suspect no foul play in the case, they have found no suicide note in Djavi’s apartment.

In the case of Ekaterina Titova (34), who was found dead in her bed also on Thursday evening at about 7.20 pm, police officials said that the direction of investigation in the case will depend on the findings of the post-mortem that is still awaited. There were no external injuries on her body.

The bodies have been preserved at the Goa Medical College in Bambolim.

Titova, was in her apartment in Oxel, Siolim, with a female friend, also a Russian national, the previous night. According to the police, the women had been consuming alcohol until early on Thursday morning after which Titova went to bed in her bedroom. Her friend, who got up late evening on Thursday found that there was no response, after which she opened the bedroom door and found her lying motionless in her bed, said Suraj Gawas, Police Inspector at Anjuna police station where both cases are registered.
