A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker was shot dead Tuesday in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, police said. The incident took place in Dumka village under East Tundi Police Station Tuesday, and the police recovered his body Wednesday morning.

The police identified the deceased as RSS’ district sampark pramukh Shankar Prasad. East Tundi police station in-charge Krishna Kumar said: “The body has been sent for post-mortem at Sahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital, Dhanbad,” he said.

Prasad was also a member of Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra, villagers said.

According to the statement by his family to police, Prasad left home on a motorcycle around 9.30pm on Tuesday. They told the police that Prasad was also involved in one land dispute in the village and an FIR had been lodged in East police station.
