RPF constable injured after rifle goes off ‘accidentally’ at Kathua railway station

A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable was injured in an accidental fire at the Kathua railway station in Jammu and Kashmir late Saturday, causing panic in the area.

Officials identified the injured as constable Dinesh Kumar, who was on duty when his service rifle went off accidentally. He sustained a bullet shot on his shoulder, the officials said.

The constable was immediately rushed to the hospital by the RPF team.

Senior police officers, other RPF constables, and railway officials rushed to the spot after hearing the gun shot.

The police have registered a case in the matter.
