Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio Saturday asked Advocate General K N Balgopal to personally intervene and take all necessary measures to secure the release of Naga youths “falsely implicated” in a case in Punjab.

The Naga youths are presently being held at the Mohali Jail in Punjab. They were apprehended in Chandigarh on May 14 this year after being accused of duping US citizens by masquerading as agents of big corporations like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft.

CM Rio also directed the Resident Commissioner in-charge of Nagaland House, New Delhi to get in touch with the families of the Naga youths and extend all necessary help.

Further, the state government has asked parents or relatives of the Naga youths to contact the administration and provide the required information to get the youths released.
