Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan advised on Saturday that the visual media to be more responsible and cautious while airing news and talk shows.

The 24 hour television channels should exercise more caution in news gathering and dissemination. Visual media has become part of the society. It needs to act in a more responsible manner as it can create ‘ripples’ in society,he said after distributing ‘Television chamber awards 2008’ in Kochi.

Since there was lot of competition between various television channels, there was a tendency to air news reports without cross checking facts,he said.

Even trivial matters are given more importance and certain issues are blown out of proportion,he said.
