A day after IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the Uttar Pradesh government revoked her suspension and reinstated her on Sunday. Though she has not been given any posting, sources said she has been given a clean chit.
Her suspension has been revoked and there are no ifs and buts attached to it. She has been given a clean chit, said a senior government officer.
Nagpal was suspended on July 27 for ordering the demolition of a wall of an under-construction mosque in Kadalpur village of Gautam Budh Nagar, where she was posted as sub-divisional magistrate.
The government had served her a chargesheet, alleging that she lacked foresight and her decision could disturb communal harmony.
But Nagpal,in her reply, maintained that there was no communal tension in the area after the demolition.
Nagpal was reported to have cracked down on illegal sand mining in the area. The Uttar Pradesh government faced criticism from many quarters following its decision to suspend her.
