As troops are busy in combing the dense forests of Hafradu to track down the remnants of the militant group that had infiltrated into Valley last week from Shamsabari ridge,Army on Thursday claimed that a senior Lashkar commander was also killed in the encounter.
Defence spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said that the Lashkar commander was killed in an encounter in Lolab Valley.
The slain militant was acting as district commander of Lashkar in Kupwara district, he said.
Brar said the militant was killed in a joint operation conducted by Kupwara Police,28 RR and 9 Para at village Dorsoo. The slain commander has been identified as Abdullah Bhai resident of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Another operation is in progress in the forests of Dardpora Arin in North Kashmirs Bandipore district. The spokesman said that an unidentified militant got killed.
One AK 47 rifle,four AK 47 magazines,one UBGL,three UBGL Shells,90 AK rounds and five SIM Cards were recovered from the encounter site, he said.
In the five day long encounter that concluded on Wednesday,17 militants and eight soldiers including a Major were killed.
