Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday defended Goa Police’s action saying that there was no political influence in the Tehelka sexual assault case.
Addressing the media,Parrikar said,”There was no pressure on police to take action against Tejpal. Police officers have been told not to take pressure from any where.”
Dismissing the charges of political conspiracy,Parrikar said: “The BJP is not involved in the matter. For a person who has committed a crime,it doesn’t matter whether it’s a BJP government or a Congress government.”
“Is Tejpal a Congress stooge. Why does he want the case out of Goa,” questioned Parrikar.
Appealing the media to let the law take its own course,Parrikar said,”Since the matter is sensitive, investigation will take its own course. Police are collecting evidence in the case”
