Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the country should be rid of Congress rule to make it corruption free and devised a political alphabet to take a jibe at the ruling party over a spate of graft cases.
Launching the BJP campaign in poll-bound Rajasthan,Modi also continued his attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Gandhi family, alleging that the Congress leadership lacks the ability to lead and take important decisions and has no accountability.
“A for Adarsh Ghotala,B for Bofors Ghotala,C for Coal ghotala,D for Damad ka ghotala (corruption)..this is the new ABCD..which the Congress adopted to introduce a new book of alphabets for children,” the Chief of BJP’s National Campaign Committee said addressing a mammoth rally on the concluding day of state BJP’s Suraj Sankalp Yatra here.
‘BJP immersed in Bharat Bhakti’
“Corruption is Congress’ ornament,a gift, and one who does more corruption, gets promotion in the party..Corruption is a disease inflicting the country… hence if India is to be made corruption free, then it should be first congress free India,” the Gujarat Chief Minister said.
Stating there is a big difference between Congress of before 1947 and after it,Modi said that after 1947 it is immersed in “Bhakti of one family”.
On the contrary,Modi claimed that “…BJP is immersed in Bharat Bhakti. It is for the well being of the 125 crore people of India.”
After attacking the Gandhis,Modi slammed the Prime Minister.
PM,UPA government slammed
“After returning from G-20 summit, nation does not know what PM has done there what he had said there…what kind of India’s representation he made there…what kind of issues raised at the international level…no new information is made available to countrymen.”
“On his return from G-20 summit,PM did announce a name of his new boss…he is ready to work under leadership of him (Rahul) after next 2014 general polls ,” he said without naming Rahul Gandhi.
Scores of burqa-clad women attended the rally of Modi, who is believed to be days away from being named the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.
“In the last nine years of UPA government, with 11 allies from inside, three parties (BSP,SP and RLD) from outside, and CBI’s hidden support,I have never seen a government that had no power to take any decision nor any satta (power) to run the nation and take important decisions,” Modi alleged.
“The UPA government is run by those who have no accountability, nor anyone can ask or seek reply from them how, when, where, for whom it is done. The country cannot have such irresponsible government which cannot take the nation on the path of prosperity,” he added.
Wooing the country’s youth,Modi said for the Congress, youth is a voter but for the BJP youth is power and the strength of the country. “Youngsters must be excited to become voters.”
Modi attacked the Congress for destroying the path created by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Praising Vajpayee and LK Advani,Modi said,”Nation remembers the NDA Government under Atal ji and Advani ji.
When we remember the Jaipur-Delhi highway we remember Atal ji. But what has happened to it?” UPA did not walk on Atal ji’s path but it did not even keep the paths Atal ji created in good shape.”
Modi also claimed,”People told me,we made a mistake 5 years ago,we are going to correct that mistake of the last election.”
Rajnath slams Congress
Lashing out at Congress,BJP chief Rajnath Singh said,”Unwarranted efforts are being made to tarnish the image of Narendra Modi who has given a development model in Gujarat.”
He said Congress leadership was is in distress due to rising popularity of the Gujarat Chief Minister.
“Narendra Modi ki lokpriyata se Congress ke kaleje mein jalan ho rahi hai…ek DIG se patra likhvaya gaya hai…Modi ki image dhumil karne ke liye (with rising popularity of Modi,Congress feels heart burns…one DIG was asked to write a letter against Modi to tarnish his image),” he told the rally.
He was referring to suspended IPS officer D G Vanzara’s letter in which he had levelled charges against the Gujarat government.
‘BJP stands by Modi’
Defending the Gujarat Chief Minister,Singh said,”Modi is not alone,BJP stands by him.”
Singh attacked the UPA government over the issues of inflation, corruption and unemployment, and also held Congress responsible for lowering of the country’s image in globally.
“UPA government has set new records of corruption whereas inflation is skyrocketing and job opportunities are little.
During the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee,6.7 crore jobs were created whereas in Congress rule from 2004-10,only 27 lakh job opportunities were provided,” he said.
The BJP chief said three political parties – SP,BSP and RJD – were supporting Congress-led UPA government from outside because of CBI “which also supports Congress”.
Singh said Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s promises to provide road, electricity and employment before last elections in Rajasthan remained unfulfilled by the party’s Ashok Gehlot government.
On the other hand,he said, the previous Vasundhara Raje- led BJP government had delivered good governance,he said, adding,”This shows Raje is a fine leader and can bring development and promote growth.”
Raje said states like Gujarat,Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh progressed but Rajasthan did not and promised adequate power supply,jobs,fluoride-free potable water and other facilities if BJP was voted to power.
