More than 1,300 persons arrested in poll-bound Karnataka

Illegal cash seized since March 20,when the code took effect,has touched Rs 12.20 crore.

A total of 1,304 persons have been arrested with regard to violation of model code of conduct,seizure of cash,liquor and other goods in various districts since March 20 in Karnataka,which goes to polls on May 5.

Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha said 436 First Information Reports have been filed in this regard.

The total illegal cash seized since March 20,when the code took effect,has touched Rs 12.20 crore,while the goods and liquor seizures were to the tune of Rs 4.71 crore.

In the last 24 hours,authorities have seized illegal cash of Rs 5.4 lakh near NICE road junction on Tumkur Road,Rs 5.51 lakh in Hukkeri in Belgaum,Rs 13 lakh in Indi in Bijapur,Rs 9 lakh in Nelamangala,Rs 5 lakh in Kolar,Rs 4.7 lakh in Raichur and Rs 3 lakh in Harihar.
