Landslides triggered by heavy rain in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir forced the 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to be closed for vehicular traffic today.
The highway is closed for the vehicular traffic due to fresh landslides at three places enroute the highway in Ramban district, police said.
The highway is the only surface link to connect Kashmir with the rest of the country.
Due to closure of the highway,over 200 vehicles are stranded at various places,police said.
The landslides were triggered by heavy rains at Khooni Nallah,Higni and Panthal areas during the night. Meanwhile,the Border Road Organisation (BRO) officials have been pressed in to clear the highway of the landslides to make it fit for traffic.
