Police protection has been provided to a family which killed a militant,injured another and snatched their weapons in Shahdra Sharief area of Rajouri district here,a senior police officer said on Tuesday.
The security would be provided by 15 policemen,along with an officer,to the family of Noor Ahmed in whose house one top Pakistani militant of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit was killed and another injured during a scuffle at Kalsian village,about 217 km from here,on the night of September 27,SSP,Rajouri,Shafkat Wattali said.
Police and security forces have been conducting search operations in the area to track down the two militants,including the injured,who managed to escape leaving behind their weapons.
The deceased militant was identified as Commander of JeM outfit,Osama,of Pakistani origin,Wattali said. The family members had also seized AK-47 and AK-56 rifles from the militants,which were later handed over to police,he added.
A reward of Rs 5,000 was also provided to the family while recommendations for providing them Rs three to four lakh has been made to higher authorities,he said.
18-year-old Aijaz and 22-year-old Ruksana,who had played a major role during the incident,would be immediately offered the posts of Special Police Officers (SPOs) till they are given permanent jobs in the police,Wattali said,adding that recommendations were also being made to confer them with the Presidents Award.
Meanwhile,the condition of Noor Ahmed and his brother Vakalat Hussain,who were injured during the scuffle and had been shifted to district hospital at Rajouri,was stated to be stable. Hussain had also sustained a gun shot in the firing by the militants.
