Friendly fight: Indian wrestlers blank Pak

Winning three of the four matches,it was an all Indian wrestlers show in Mission Dosti Wrestling Championship held during the ongoing Navratra festival at Katra on Tuesday.

Wrestler Hitesh Kumar of Haryana won final bout in the championship by defeating Pakistan’s wrestler Bashir Bhola in a 13-minute interesting contest held at Vivekanada Sports Stadium in Katra. Bhola,who had won the championship last year also,was awarded with Rs 51,000,a silver Guraj and a Patta.

Mission Dosti – an Indo-Pak Wrestling contest,which was fifth in the series,was organized by the Indian Style Wrestling Association of India in collaboration with Jammu Kashmir Tourism Department,Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and Municipal Committee,Katra. The Minister for Medical Education,Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports,R.S.Chib was the chief guest on the occasion,who formally declared the wrestling championship open by releasing pigeons and tri-coloured balloons in the air.

Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Baldev Raj Sharma,Jugal Kishore,Ashwani Sharma (all MLAs),president of the Katra Municipal Committee Amrish Magotra,president of the Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Ram Asrey Yadav,Additional Chief Executive Officer of SMVDSB Dr. M.K.Bandhari,District Development Commissioner of Reasi,Pandurang Pole,Senior Superintendent of Police,Anand Jain,Deputy Chief Executive Officer,SMVDSB,Verinder Salathia,SDM Katra,Rash Paul Singh,Addl.S.P. Katra,Ashok Sharma,and president of the J&K unit of Indian Style Wrestling Association,Shiv Kumar Sharma.

Pakistani wrestler Mohammad Ali won the first battle. He was cheered by large number of local people as he crushed his Indian counterpart. The second match was won by an Indian wrestler,while Pakistani wrestler Abdul Rehman was declared retired hurt in the third match.
