Five pilgrims were killed and 47 others,including 29 from Andhra Pradesh,injured in separate road accidents in Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand,police said on Saturday.
Five pilgrims were killed and 18 injured when their tractor-trolley overturned near Malvar gate in Rohtas district of Bihar late last evening.
The accident occurred when they were returning after offering prayers at a Shiva temple at Gupta Dham. The injured were admitted to a government hospital at Sasaram where condition of six was stated to be critical.
In another mishap in adjacent Jharkhand,29 pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh were injured when their bus hit another vehicle on the G T Road road in Dhanbad yesterday. Altogether,78 pilgrims of Kakenara village under East Godavri district of Andhra Pradesh had set out on January 31 on a month-long pilgrimage. The injured have been hospitalised.
