To counter traffic snarls during winter months due to adverse weather conditions, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to set up control rooms at three places along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
The control rooms will be set up at Qazigund,Jawahar Tunnel and on the other side of the tunnel at Banihal,an official spokesman said here today.
Proper communication facilities including wireless sets would be provided to officials manning the traffic on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel.
In case of adverse weather forecast, movement of vehicles would be restricted on the highway as a precautionary measure, the spokesperson said.
The decision was taken during a meeting held yesterday at Beacon Headquarters at Rangret on outskirts of the city,he said.
Srinagar-Jammu highway is a vital road link connecting Kashmir with rest of the country.
