Auto lifters gang busted,114 vehicles seized

Police say 4 kingpins have been arrested and three others are still absconding.

Jammu and Kashmir Police today said it has busted several gangs of car and motorcycle lifters by arresting 15 accused,including four kingpins,and seized 114 vehicles worth Rs 2.54 crore.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Ashiq Bukhari told reporters here that four kingpins had been arrested and three others were still absconding.

“We have recovered 51 four-wheelers and 63 motorcycles from them,” Bukhari said.

To solve the growing number of burglaries,police had formed four special squads in four zones each headed by Superintendent of Police,he said.
