About 15 per cent of a total of 9.02 lakh voters in outer Manipur parliamentary constituency exercised their franchise during first four hours on Thursday,election office sources said.
Sources said 15 per cent of the votes were cast in eight valley assembly segments of Imphal East and Thoubal districts which formed part of the outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency (Hill districts).
Reports from hill district headquarters of Ukhrul,Tamenglong,Senapati,Churachandpur and Chandel said polling percentage was recorded as 10,15,10,10 and 15 per cent by 11 a.m.
Four central observers supported by several micro observers were overseeing the polling of the first phase polls in outer Manipur parliamentary constituency.
Loli Adanee of BJP,Thangso Baite of Congress and Mani Cheranamei of People’s Democratic Alliance were the prominent candidates in Thursday’s hustings.
