Suman Saini, a washerwoman in Jaipur, had taken a loan from her relative to pay the fees of her son who studies in a private English medium school. When asked why she was not sending her son to a government Hindi medium school, she said, “The world needs people who can speak English. My nephew studies in Class 10 in Hindi medium. But he is now worried about his future because during admissions, all colleges stress on English language. I do not want my son to suffer because of this. Hence, even if a Hindi medium private school is within my budget, I will do everything possible to send my son to an English medium school.”
