Congress leader Rahul Gandhi allegedly made a defamatory speech against freedom fighter and Hindutva ideologue V D Savarkar
A day after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi questioned the Centre on the appointment of the Election Commission chief and raised “vote chori” claim in the Lok Sabha, the BJP launched an attack against him over his upcoming visit to Germany amid the ongoing Parliament session, calling him “irresponsible”. However, the Congress was quick to hit back, pointing out Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi’s frequent foreign visits.
BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday lobbed a jibe at Gandhi, calling him a “Non-Resident Indian politician”. He further remarked that Gandhi’s heart lies in foreign countries, but he is compelled to do politics in India.

NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Rohit Pawar defended Gandhi, saying even if Rahul Gandhi is not present, the government should at least respond to the questions raised by the other leaders. “I cannot say why he has gone to Germany right now, but we will come to know later. However, whatever questions the other MPs raise in Parliament, you should answer those… There must be something important. He cannot tell me what is happening in Delhi. We can talk about what is happening in Maharashtra. But if he has a personal reason or any other reason, we can comment on it only after we find out what it is.”
Congress MP Nana Patole said: “He will tell everyone why he is going to Germany… BJP wants Rahul Gandhi to leave India because they are afraid of him.”
As per news agency PTI, Rahul Gandhi will be on a visit to Germany from December 15 to 20, during which he will engage with the Indian diaspora and meet German ministers.
