The Ludhiana police has decided to support the medical treatment of the girl who was attacked with acid on her wedding day in Ludhiana last week.

Police Commissioner Nirmal Singh Dhillon, who met the girl at the Dayanand Medical College Hospital on Wednesday, said,”She was sitting and she remembered everything. We are with her and her family and Ludhiana police will support her treatment anywhere in the country.”

The girl is now stable. The doctors are not willing to say anything about her vision. It will be known after a few days once the burn injuries start healing, they say.

“Her internal organs are fine as of now. But,manifestations regarding internal organs sometimes develop after a few days. The girl is recovering well and has a strong will power,” said Dr Ramnish Garg, the plastic surgeon treating her.

The girl often asks why was she targetted. “Within seconds,my life changed completely,” she told her mother.

Nirmal Dhillon said they would be opening a bank account in the victim’s name to raise funds for her treatment. “We will send her to the best plastic surgeon for re-constructive surgeries once she recovers fully. The hospital has been told that the bill will be paid by Ludhiana police,” said Dhillon.

The police has arrested one woman and five others involved in the incident. While Parwinder, who had thrown acid on the girl, has been sent in judicial remand because of his foot and arm injury, the others are in police remand. Parwinder had got acid from a battery shop in Bakshiwala in Patiala. The shopkeeper, who had helped Parwinder take out acid from a battery,is absconding.
