A fortnight after the Dina Nagar attack, the Border Security Force (BSF) is yet to locate any physical evidence to establish that the three terrorists from Pakistan entered the country through the Punjab border.
Sources in the BSF said the force has checked the entire border in the Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Amritsar regions but has been unable to locate any physical evidence.
Initial reports of the attacks had claimed that the data gathered from a Global Positioning System (GPS) system showed that the three terrorists had crossed over to Bamiyal town in Pathankot, close to the international border, through the Ravi river. They then allegedly walked to the Amritsar-Jammu highway before coming to Dina Nagar.

A senior BSF officer said there was no physical signs, like footprints along the river bank, to show that the terrorists had used the Ravi river to cross over. “We have physically scanned each and every possible entry point along the international border but not a single piece of evidence could be recovered to show they entered the Indian side through the Punjab border,” the officer said.
With the lack of any physical evidence some senior BSF officials now suspect that the terrorists could have come from some other route.
BSF Inspector General (Punjab) Anil Paliwal could not be reached despite repeated attempts while BSF DIG R S Kataria said he was not authorised to speak to the media on the issue.
