JD(S) Supremo HD Deve Gowda on Thursday said that Janata Parivar will not destabilize the BJP govt in Centre but will highlight its failure in delivering election promises. Deve Gowda claimed that even a year after Narendra Modi came to power, poor are still suffering from malnutrition and farmer are committing suicide. “We will take-up the matter both inside and outside the parliament and highlight BJP’s failure to fulfill the promises made during election campaign,” Gowda said.
Attributing BJP’s runaway victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha election to leadership failure in UPA’s coalition government, Deve Gowda asserted that Janata-Parivar will form a credible front. “It is the failure of the Congress – 2G scam and Coal-gate that helped BJP emerge as the single largest party in the last Lok Sabha election. In addition to that several regional parties had associated with Modi’s leadership.” he said.
However, the former-Prime Minister did not commit if the new-found allies will continue and contest the next Lok Sabha polls on the same side. “It depends upon how this present government, which enjoys absolute majority in the lower house, will fulfill the promises it made during election,” he said
Repeatedly calling the former Janata Dal group as ‘Parivar’, Deve Gowda dismissed speculations that there was any rift between him and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh on the leadership in the organization. He claimed that Mulayam Singh was the unanimous choice as the leader of the new group.
Gowda said a committee headed by him will chalk out the schedule to finalise everything related to the new party. “The panel will decide on the name, policy, programme, flag, symbol of the new party. The decisions will be taken collectively,” he said.
