In the wake of Enforcement Directorate lodging a money laundering case against Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh, BJP Sunday questioned Congress party’s “silence” over the issue and demanded his resignation.
BJP secretary and in-charge of Himachal Pradesh Srikant Sharma said: “The silence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi in such a serious case of corruption is shameful. They make tall claims and do nothing when it comes to corruption.” ED has registered a money laundering case against Singh under provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act after taking cognisance of a criminal complaint filed by CBI in this regard in September.
“BJP has been taking up the issue of corruption against the CM while Congress has not only kept quite, but also tried to whitewash charges against him,” he said. He said Singh has lost moral right to remain in his post and should resign immediately.
