Former Prime Minister and MP from Lucknow,Atal Bihari Vajpayee has appealed to the voters in Lucknow to ensure a win for BJP candidate Lalji Tandon.

The BJP patriarch,in an open letter, said,”Till now I used to come here to seek votes, but owing to poor health neither can I contest the polls nor can I be among you. But I am overwhelmed by the support I got from you from 1991 to 2004. It was your affection and the land of Lucknow, which transformed me from Atal Bihari Vajpayee to the Prime Minister.”

“Friends I am indebted to you,but I am not going to pay off my debts,as this will make our special relations formal,” Vajpayee’s close aide Shivkumar quoted him as saying in the letter.

The octogenarian leader appealed to the electorates to vote in favour of Tandon, who is replacing him in the prestigious Lucknow constituency this time.

“I appeal to you to shower the same love on Lalji Tandon, which you had once showered on me. Lalji Tandon has held many important posts in the past and has seen Lucknow from very close quarters,” Vajpayee said.

“It is my appeal to you to cast your vote in favour of the BJP and ensure the win of Lalji Tandon from here.”
