Trinamool Congress MPs on Wednesday met President Pranab Mukherjee to protest against the manner in which the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2014 was passed in the Lok Sabha, “violating all parliamentary rules and procedures.” The party requested the President not to allow the Bill to come to the Rajya sabha.
“The Bill was not included in the List of Business of Lok Sabha on February 13, nor was it mentioned in any supplementary list of business on the day. Hence there was no scope for members to oppose the introduction of the Bill. Still the Home Minister introduced the Bill in the din which we protested. There has been no full-fledged structured discussion on such an important Bill,” said the letter to the President signed by 16 MPs. They told the President that it was only on coming out of the House that they came to know that the Lok Sabha TV telecast had been stopped.
