Congress reacted sharply to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his absence from work after bypass heart surgery and said “nothing could be cheaper and more condemnable”.

“It was sad to see a political pygmy like Modi criticise a stalwart with global reputation like the PM”,said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi.

“He (Modi) has used indecent language and exposed his true face and character and that of BJP by attacking the PM even for temporary leave due to a bypass surgery,” Singhvi said.

He said “nothing could be cheaper and more condemnable than such utterances of Modi and BJP.”

Earlier,Modi had said that “nobody remembered the PM when he was on holiday for two months. Such an invisible PM who is not to be found and seen anywhere!” This remark was construed as an apparent reference to PM’s absence from work while recovering from bypass heart surgery.
