‘Inefficient NC failed to implement Food Security Act’

Addressing a rally at Chanderkote in Ramban district in J&K, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday blamed the “inefficient” National Conference (NC) of failing to properly implement the ambitious Food Security Act in the state. “The Congress has always worked for the people without bothering about their religion or caste. The UPA government brought the Food Security Act in the country. But due to the inefficient NC, the law was not implemented properly in the state,” she said. Attacking the BJP, she added, “When Congress comes, it brings development. On the other hand, BJP supports all kinds of divisions in the society. It divides the nation on the basis of religion, community, creed and region. You know this fact much better than others. Those who don’t have any scheme or programme, they can go to any extent for the sake of power, join hands with any kind of elements. That is why there is need to beware of such divisive forces.”

Cong banks on development work during Azad regime

Jammu: With less than a week left for the first phase of Assembly elections in J&K, the Congress is reminding people of the development work taken up during its government under Ghulam Nabi Azad. “Development became an achievable notion and a realisable goal in J&K during the tenure of Congress in the state between 2006-08,’’ said Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is also the chairman of the Congress’s campaign committee in the state. During his campaign trail in Chenab Valley region, he asked people to vote for the Congress to revive the “glorious era” of 2006-08.    ENS
