FIR against RJD MP for ‘storming into’ poll office

As per the complaint, Singh and his supporters stormed into the district collectorate premises for filing of nomination against the permissible entry of only five persons.

An FIR was lodged against RJD MP Prabhunath Singh, his private secretary Jitendra Singh and his supporters Thursday by Deputy Collector of Saran, Dharmenda Kumar, for obstructing government work by breaking a barricade during filing of nomination by the MP from the Maharajganj parliamentary seat on April 15.

As per the complaint, Singh and his supporters stormed into the district collectorate premises for filing of nomination against the permissible entry of only five persons. District officials were probing allegations against Singh that he had instigated party workers to cast more than one vote. He had allegedly exhorted party workers to press buttons on EVMs more than once.

Naidu, Jagan file nominations

Hyderabad: TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and his mother Y S Vijayamma were filed their nominations on Thursday for the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu’s son, N Lokesh, filed the nomination the behalf of his father.

Bimal Gurung’s wife detained in police camp

Darjeeling (WB): Asha Gurung, wife of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung, was detained Thursday at a police station when she went there to plead for the release of detained GJM youths. Police said eight drunk GJM workers were detained and taken to Darjeeling Sadar police station where Asha, head of GJM’s woman’s wing, went to plead for their release.
