Holding him in violation of the model code of conduct, the Election Commission Thursday issued a notice to Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma asking him to explain his stance on the charges that he used “intemperate language” against BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi while addressing a public meeting in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, on April 1. “Gandhi ji dharm-nirpekshta ke liye shaheed huye… aur RSS aur Bhajpa ke logon ne unki hatya ki… Modi RSS ka sabse bada gunda hai… jis tarah ki bhasha bolte hain us tarah ki bhasha loktantra mein nahi boli jaati (Gandhi died for secularism… RSS and BJP men killed him… Modi is RSS’s biggest goon… the lauguage he uses should not be used in a democracy),” is what Verma is accused of saying. BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP R Ramakrishna had complained to the EC. Verma has been asked to explain his stance by 5 pm on April 12 failing which action may be taken against him.    ENS
