Former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi’s wife, Jessie George, on Monday filed a defamation case against state Health Minister Ramdhani Singh for alleging that she had got the job of a lecturer on the basis of a fake degree.
“The minister’s statement has created (a) dent in my social prestige and damaged my image in (the) eyes of my students and their guardians,” said George, who is in-charge principal at Patna’s Women’s Training College.
Last week, Minister Singh had made the allegations against Modi’s wife after his daughter was forced to resign from the post of librarian at Patna’s Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.
The BJP had alleged that the Minister’s daughter had got the job of librarian despite not fulfilling required criteria.
Singh also refused to tender a public apology to Modi’s wife.
In her plea, George has given details of her educational and professional degrees.
Before joining as a lecturer in Patna University in 2003, she said that she taught for eight years at a Kendriya Vidyalaya.
