The Akhilesh Yadav government has decided to withdraw a case against Union Minister Kalraj Mishra in connection with alleged violation of prohibitory orders during the 2009 Lok Sabha polls in Pilibhit. The Law Department has sent a letter regarding this to the Pilibhit district magistrate, but the prosecution is yet to file an application in the court for withdrawal of the case.
District Magistrate, Pilibhit, Om Narayan Singh Monday confirmed to have received the direction from the state. Singh said a case was filed against Mishra for violation of Section 144 of the CrPC (issued in urgent cases of nuisance of apprehended danger) on March 28, 2009, when he allegedly held a public meeting on the premises of Pilibhit district collectorate, without permission from the administration.
The court issued had summons to Mishra to appear before it, but he did not respond and arrest warrant was also issued against him then, the DM said.
