Stating that there was a “complete breakdown of law and order” in UP, BSP supremo Mayawati Friday said her party will not contest byelections to 12 Assembly seats and one LS seat in state and instead prepare for mid-term polls as the Akhilesh Yadav government will “collapse” within a year.
“The BSP is focusing on next Assembly elections. The poor condition of law and order, development and welfare works clearly show that the SP government will not last long. There will be Assembly elections in UP within a year,” Mayawati told reporters here.
She alleged the state was suffering erratic and decreased power supply of electricity and only native district and village of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and the constituencies of his family members were proper electricity.
In UP, 12 MLAs — 11 of BJP and one of Apna Dal — have been elected to the LS necessitating byelections in the seats held by them in the near future. Byelection will also be held for Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which has been vacated by SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
